About 10 years ago, Larry built this playhouse for our girls. It is approximately 4x8 feet and is quite sturdy. The porch has always been one of our favorite parts.
We attached the swing set to it to create a play land for the kids. He installed yellow siding to match our house.
Our neighbor gave us this "working fireplace".When plugged in,a lightbulb in the hearth lights up an orange piece of paper that rotates around to look like a fire is burning. It provides a wonderful mantle to store things on like this old kettle and glass coke bottles. The extra large window over top of it sometimes acts as an ordering booth for "fast food". We don't mind spending money on things that are quality and these windows have stood the test of time. They are in great shape and the screens are terrific in the summertime.
Rustic furniture helps to give this cabin an olden days feel.
At a yard sale we picked up this very old entertainment center that has a lot of nooks and crannies in it that are just right for storing cooking supplies.
Alongside of the playhouse are some Lil' Tyke pieces; a kitchen and washing/drying center and our original fort which is over 20 years old and still going strong.
It was so nice to see the kids playing in here on this particular day. As cute as it is, our playhouse tends to be under utilized. Miss J. is the perfect age to enjoy it. It would be wonderful if I made a plan to sit in the yard and read this summer so that she and the little guy could have uninterrupted TIME to pretend and play in here...I hope to remember that...
