A Shower of Best Wishes

This beautiful cake with homemade chocolate leaves was the centerpiece of a wonderful Bridal Shower given by the Bridal party this past Sunday.
The girls got together on Saturday afternoon to shop and chop a bounteous amount of delicious food for their guests.

Fall decorations were hung up and so pretty that we decided to leave some of them up until Thanksgiving!
The little  guy enjoyed my favorite candy before being taken out by his Dad to watch football which is what all the men in the family were doing. Bridal and Baby Showers are for women and girls only!
We visited with Mom as the guests were arriving.
Lovely Lynnie came in with a smile and a gift for the Bride.
It was great to see Shiel who was in town for the week-end.
Other guests included many of our cousins, and Meg's childhood and High School friends. We did miss some of the little girls, young ladies and aunts in the family who couldn't make it but who are  key parts of our sisterhood!
I was really struck with the beauty of all of  these young women!
We began our party by feasting and catching up with our friends and family.

Then we let the games begin! Aunt Catherine won both games as usual! Our bride received many very generous gifts to set up her kitchen and bathroom and also supplies to decorate her new home for fall. Each guest had a slip of paper with a question on it that Meg answered as she opened their gift regarding her engagement story.
Our family has always given showers to brides and expectant mothers for almost every child born. It is a sweet time of feminine sharing and welcoming. It was a real joy to see the next generation of women in our family take over this tradition. Thanks, ladies! I had a wonderful time!
