An Inspired Choice

Last Sunday was such a perfect summer day, warm but not hot, sunny and breezy.

We planned to go to the 5: 30pm  Mass because Meg had been asked to babysit for her friend's baby for the entire day and we wanted to help out.

The weather was so delightful  and we were all enjoying it.
Larry invited our friend Carl to come over to play some Horseshoes.

This little lady  watched her dad play horseshoes. She actually followed the game while sitting on her tricycle and rang the wind-chime when someone got a ringer or one point.
We were having such a nice day as more and more family arrived to hang out.
All of a sudden, we remembered that we hadn't been to church yet and it was  4:45 pm! It was time to leave for Mass in 15 minutes!
For a split second there was a temptation to say " Everyone is here and we just invited Carl over only an hour or so ago. Maybe we should just stay home..."
Thankfully, we realized almost immediately that it was not worth missing Mass for anything when it was entirely possible to attend.
We had the boys put on collared polo shirts (the girls had already gone to the 7:30 am Mass) and we jumped into the van. We were able to give Carl a lift back into town. He had attended his own church in the morning and understood completely that we had to cut our visit short because of our forgotten plans to go to the 5:30 Mass.

We knew that although we had attended Sunday Mass 51 other times in the past year, our kids would remember the one time we chose to miss because we had a house full of family and friends, and in the future, they would follow our bad example. Grace intervened, and we decided that we were going, no matter what.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Mass, as always.
When we got home, our family was still here. We had the added pleasure of being able to tell this lovely young mother how much we all enjoyed her beautiful baby!
Deliver us from all temptation -To God Be The Glory!
