Party in a Rose Garden

Sunday afternoon,we drove an hour to the home of our dear friends, Greg and Eve. They built their place from scratch about 5 years ago and it is amazing what a home they have created. They were having a party in their yard for friends and neighbors and the weather was perfect.

Greg and Eve both know how to cook! We had shrimp, new potatoes and corn and Brisket, cooked to perfection over a wood fire for 10 hours.
Their yard has about 25 large rose bushes in full bloom. Apparently, roses love the sandy loam which is the soil here. Eve cares for them each day
.
Their yard has many fun and interesting nooks and crannies like the gnome garden that the boys enjoyed.

They love animals and have many, including three peafowl that they drove 7 hours to our house to get when they were chicks. Their female is now sitting on 5 eggs, but we saw the two males. One is a Blue India and the other is Pied which means it has white on it.
Here aresome pictures of an outdoor chess set.
Greg and Larry went to High School together and then became best friends about 5 years later. He and Eve have been married for 35 years or so.We love them so much that we named our son after Greg
.Greg and Larry were in a band about 22 years ago. We had a beautiful time singing and harmonizing together. The older we get, the harder it is to remember the lyrics!
Greg and Eve have become very close to their neighbors. We visited their communal greenhouse and the gorgeous home of their neighbor Kay who is an artist. She gave us one of her paintings to leave as a gift at the beach house!

It was a wonderful day. Greg and Eve plan to come visit us  at the beach on Wednesday.
