Swing Bridge

The Barrier Island that we went to has water on both sides. It is out further than the mainland. The town has marvelous decking all around the west side of it which gives a great view of the Intracoastal Waterway.
We enjoyed watching boats being launched from the drive -in ramp.
I liked the contrast between the young guy playing rap music in the big boat, and the older guy with lots of fishing equipment on the simple jon boat. Either way, it was a beautiful day to be out on the water. In the background is the swing bridge.
At the top of each hour, this bridge to the island pivots at a 90 degree angle and allows for tall ships to go through. We lucked out and got to see this happen.Three sailboats were waiting to pass through.

The bridget pivots back and the traffic continues over it. It took about 6-7 minutes total.
This picture is for Aunt Nancy! It was fun to be reminded that we were vacationing during a school week for everyone else. Being off-season, there were no crowds at all ,anywhere.
While we were out , we went to the seafood market to buy shrimp for our feast.

It was absolutely delightful to use these colorful dishes  all week.
Notice the "monkey" dishes as we called them in the restaurant business on the top shelf in the middle. These little bowls are perfect for the beach because they can hold seafood shells or sauces such as cocktail sauce.
Although Eve was feeling poorly and couldn't make it, Greg, Chuck and Kristal joined us for our Shrimp Fest. Kristal very cleverly wore this T- shirt that was the band uniform for Larry and Greg's Band, Alliance. This shirt is about 20 years old and looked great on her!
