Lovely Shower

A large group of friends and family wished Cindi well as she prepares for her expected baby daughter.
We all shared so much laughter, love, and joy as we lunched on a feast of foods served up for the ladies.
During this shower, I really was acutely aware of what we ladies are doing when we gather at these parties exclusively for women and girls. We are hanging out and being ladies!!!We are sharing the big stepping stones of life with many generations. We older women have been where these young ladies are and the girls are aware that some day it will be their turn!

So many young mothers were in attendance, almost all I have known for many years, since they were girls and teens. I assure you, the next generation is in fine and capable hands!

Many gifts were given to expected Baby Emma.

The kids had a ball.
I have said it before and I really believe it- Showers are about so much more than gifts.
The gifts are so helpful and useful, but they are really just an expression of the emotional support given and a sharing of  the special occasion with the lady of honor. It is about being with someone as they make a rite of passage into marriage or motherhood.

For those who care to, Let's offer a prayer for Cindi's safe delivery:
For an Expectant Mother
Father of Life,
We thank you for the expectant mother who carries this growing hope in her life and into our world. Bless her and the living promise of this child and help her to manage the mix of joys, fears and anxieties she may have about the time ahead.
As she watches her body change, may she grow in your own loving kindness and compassion. Let her be inspired by Mary and Joseph who model a loving family life and give her the courage to guide her children in a faith-filled life.
Be with her in her gladness these days and deepen her faith, so that labor might be a time of strength and prayer. Guard the health of her baby and give her the peace of mind that may so often seem elusive in this time.
With your grace, she will be ready for the end of this expectant time and ready to take on the joys and challenges of parenthood.
May she praise you with Mary:
“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord and my spirit exalts in God my savior.”
