Lawn Bowling

While  waiting for our turn to tour the Governor's home at Tryon Palace, we were introduced to the wonderful game of Lawn Bowling.
This simple game of  rolling four balls, one person and one ball at a time, is so much fun! The object is to roll your ball closest to the odd ball in a different color, lobbed first. It is a little bit like croquet but with less equipment.
We purchased two sets of this "Beach Bocce" in order to get four balls in each color at one of the beach souvenir shops. The sets came with a little black ball to use for the "goal" but we have substituted this more visible white softball instead.
Now we have a new past-time to play in the front yard.
It's always nice to have something to do when the weather is nice and you want to be outside.
It was a great activity to play as a family when Natalie invited over her very first gentleman caller.
The colors are so pretty and this game is no trouble to set up and get going at.
The handy plastic cases keep it all neatly together, for now!
