We took four separate vehicles and met up in the Visitor center which is newly built from the last time I was there. The admission price was extremely reasonable for the opportunity to visit seven buildings and 16 acres of formal gardens.

Tryon Palace
A few of us were sunburned and wanted to take a day to go sightseeing. Tryon Palace was chosen because it is a living history museum full of antique furnishings and paintings and was an hour's drive from the beach. This is the home of the early governors of North Carolina and is located on the water in New Bern, NC.

We all had a great time here. It was so pretty to look at. The House tour was educational as we were told about the daily life of the governors and their families who lived here. I especially liked the "Summer Kitchen" building. Pictured above is the horse stable.
